First appearing in stores in 1994-1995, the Nike Air Max 2 Light’s return replicates the original release whilst bearing clean, updated finishes and a never-seen-before colourway representing almost 25 years of progression within the brand. Celebrated by sneakerheads everywhere, the Nike Air Max 2 Light Shoes have been donned ‘the ultimate dad shoe’ thanks to the chunky and distinctively 90’s aesthetic.
Incredibly lightweight for a shoe that has been designed with a heavily stylised and layered aesthetic, the heel boasts a technical, compartmentalised Air Max unit which includes two chambers underfoot and additional sections on the exteriors, offering varying levels of support and cushioning. Allowing the new colourway to take centre stage, smooth leather overlays sit upon a selection of textures that form the styles distinctive retro aesthetic. A university gold coloured textured fabric has been used across the front and sides, with the edge of the toes including an additional layer of suede which adds further texture. Bright crimson swoosh ticks have been added in line to the tongue - noticeably further back than other leading styles - and reflective silver highlights can be found on the heel that surround a transparent embossed branded section placed within a cut out section of leather.
Boasting a brand new colourway: the racer blue tongue has a circular rubber Air Max 2 emblem, below are white cotton laces that feature a transparent rectangular metallic swoosh tab at the base. The edge of the inside of the heel has been lined with cotton and the supportive Air Max 2 Light sockliner is coloured in a flash of bright crimson. Complete with a unique tread design that includes a specially crafted embossed pattern, a racer blue front panel complements the supportive tech throughout the base of the shoe, as does the differing black heel mould.
